Take a good look at the last several promises you made. Did you keep them? How good you are at honoring commitments, even to yourself and to others?

Well, with me I am good with my word with others but within myself, I do have a hard time commit, like for example I made promises to myself what I would do and sometimes I don't keep that promise, I'll go back and forth. I am still working on fighting it and keeping what I've said I would do or done. ;)

What about you guys? Don't be shy.. nobody is going to get scare of you LOL!

I do what I can do keep my word when it comes to personal issues. However, when it's business... I can't always guarantee it.

It's better not to make promises if you know you can't keep it.
My bf and I often tell each other: "I can't promise I would do this, but I will try to do it."
Makes our level of expectation more realistic, I think! We all know that life is subject to changes and that we cannot always control what happens around us. Trying to uphold each other on our promises, it just adds stress and feeling of frustration trying to meet each other's expectations.

I can't really think of the last time I have used the word "promise." I think it is better to make goals and try to meet them rather to promise yourself to do this and that. Goals are there, and it is meant to be met with failures in order to learn to win on accomplishing these goals.

I will have to agree with him ^. :D

Yea, my mom made so many promises and never kept it. So I hate that words. I never bother use it or wont let anyone use it in my house. LOL Yep that me.

I will just say I cant guarntee but I will do my best. Cuz I know I cant control what is going around me. Things always changing even at the last minutes.

I taught my son never use the word promise just say that he will do his best. :D

i totally agree with u Kuifje! well said! :thumb:

ive made promises to myself and to others very rarely cuz those are the ones i KNEW i would be able to keep

I totally agree with what Kuifje75 said up above, there are times I keep my promise but there are other times I don't....It may be because the day ran out too fast  ...Like I promise one of my boys that I will play a game with him, and when I got so busy with other things, and making phone calls, etc, the time went too quickly and it became too late to play....So, I try not to make promise unless I can keep them.... :dunno:

Yup. I also agree with this. I only make promises to others when I know I can keep them. Otherwise, I say something like "If I can...". There's nothing worse than the disappointment that comes from a broken promise.

As for myself, well, forget it. I am a bad procrastinator, so I always wind up telling myself I'll do something, and I almost never do it.

Yes, I´m agree with you Kuiji75.

I dont beleive to make promise when I am not sure.

I alway said:"I try what I can but I cant promise" when I feel unsure.

I would say "I promise you" when I feel sure.

I often do that with my children.

It is hard to keep promises. Sometimes I can keep promises...
but sometimes it is hard to resist.

This man never kept a promise in his whole life.

I agree pretty much with most of you; however; I will also add that my word is my bond when it comes to OTHER people but not always for myself....

My daughter gets used to a broken promised for 5 years by her real Father, One day when My husband just moved in with us since We were items before we got married, Anyhow, Kayla wrote down on a paper..

I promised to take you to the Pond for swims, after you get off the bus on thursday.
Lance sign his promised...

That thursday, He waited at kayla's bus stop He would NOT let me go there because He promised her, so that impressed me big time.. When Kayla walked in house with a *shock face*, didn't say a word to me, she just kept on going to her room to grab towel, and change into Bathsuit.. She came out of bedroom, and said to me "Mom, Lance is taking me to the pond as he promised me" I said "Okay hun, have fun." They went for a swim for about 1 hour and came back.. Kayla said "Mom can I call him my new Dad ? " I looked up to Lance he laughed and said, Whatever you want, you can call me anything" I smiled big time because He was there for her!! that was the first moment I have always remember what He did to her and made me so feel so good!

His exactly words to me:
I don't believe in making promise if I can't keep them, If I can't keep them I will say I will try"

He taughed me a lot. I am very pleased to have him in my life!
Also, He is right about If you can't keep promises then don't make any promises! If you can't make any promise just to say I will try!

Bush lied alot, he said he would get the person who commit a crime on 9/11 and he did not, he went after Saddam instead. He made so much promise he broke most of them.

Taxes already been raised!!! now that a lie!! look at gas taxes! the prices on gas keep going up last summer then it will go up again this summer! bush never kept his promises. he played us like a fool! also by the way.....bush knew the terrorists will take the plane on 9/11 but he never realized that they going to use the planes as a weapon against those innocent people! NOW he didnt save those 3,000 people from harm at all! FBI and CIA should work together but there is a communication problem between those two organizations. Bush already knew beforehand a month before this happens!
