How do you tell your hearing friends that you're losing your hearing?

My hearing has been deteriorating and in the last few months it has taken a nosedive.

I've tried explaining this to some of my hearing friends, but they don't quite get it.

How do you explain to them that you're losing your hearing? I hope it doesn't get to the point to where I have to completely cut certain people out of my life.

I used to fake to my friends that I could hear better than I could so since being able to connect with them on FB and sometimes hooking up with them whenever I visit AZ, I am honest. I say, "Look, I can speak well but I need your help in keeping up with conversations because I cant keep up with everyone speaking. I would love that so much."

That has worked so well.


Why DIDN'T I do that back in high school instead of being in denial about it and faking it? GRRR!

Try that...honesty is the best policiy and only your true friends will respond postively.
