I know all parents have different teaching methods for teaching children ASL, Auslan, BSL, or whatever sign language you use in your country, and as well as writing and reading English, or whatever language you use.

I've a couple questions that I'd like answered.

How did you teach your kids to sign?

When did you start teaching your kid to sign?

How did you teach your kid how to write and read in English?

When did you start teaching your kids how to write and read in English?

Thanks!

How did you teach your kids to sign?

I taught my boys some signs, They're hearing thou.

When did you start teaching your kid to sign?

I should have taught my boys signs since birth, but I taught them when Markus was 5 or so, and Jordan the same. But, they're not expert on ASL.

How did you teach your kid how to write and read in English?

I read books with them, Point to the words as I read to my boys, We go to the library a lot, and have them pick out their favorite book for them to read. That's how it makes it easy for them to learn how to read. Trust me kids love to go to Libraries. With writing, First they learned ABC's {what letters look like; how to form them; about the sounds some letters represent.} Then they learned how to spell their first name and last name, Then we go off learning our home telephone number and home address. They also learned words basic words such as "They" "who" "she" "he" "go" "went" and etc. Then they learned the colors, and I also have done flash cards which write down each word and they sounding out the word and would ask them what does this word means? And to have them make up a sentence to put the word in it.

When did you start teaching your kids how to write and read in English?

Markus learned how to write English before he went onto First grade, Jordan is still learning to write English, He's improving much better than he was before. They both learned to read at the age of five. :)

I taught my kids sign language PSE when they were baby. Well my first son, he is gifted so no problem for me to teach him to write and read. He reads on TV before he started first grade. He blew my mind away when he read book himself faster. My baby son has learning disablitiy so it was difficult for me to teach him how to read and write. It took liittle longer and to this day he still refused to read. At least he graduated from high school with triple hard work he did for himself.

I teach my children sign since they were 6 months. They are deaf and they watch my sign. Both of us are deaf, but we have oral and vocal.

6 months old upward.

I start reading a book to them when they are 6 months by pointing pics and sign them. Writing i would say they learn it in pre school.

Reading 6 months onward. Writing about 3 - 4 years old.

Hope this answer your questions.

How did you teach your kids to sign?
I sign my hearing boys since birth.

When did you start teaching your kid to sign?
My boys look to us and learn from us automatic. They both sign like full deaf... German sign language. Only one British sign language, they like to use is "Mama".

I read and sign the books to them. I show them how to draw the pictures and write their names. I give them plenty of time to enjoy their experiments until they first learn how to write at their first grade then we start to teach them how to write. They learn to write Germans then learn English 4 years later after 1st grade.

I taught my daughter some ASL, I can speak so I use both sign and speak.

I taught her how to sign when she was a baby but since I can talk she doesn't sign well enough to be an expert.

I put her in daycare and preschool so she can be properly taught by the teachers. I also helped her at home too. I bought books and we'd read them.

Taught her to write and read since she was about 1 and a half. She'd get all the texture books and feel it and I would tell her what it is. there was a book that had pictures such as milk, cookies, t.v., house, boy, girl, so on. I would point at it and sign and say it the same time. that was when she was about 1 year old.
