I get all kinds of problems because of water that builds up in the tubing and/or the mould its self. I get feedback, distortion, poping and clicking noises, and even just sound not being amplified.

I know some tubing and moulds are very sensitive to heat. If the tubing on my hearing aids gets to hot it'll start to narrow in size. Not sure of this can become a problem with the dry and store machines. What are your expierences?

I always did use a desiccant in a jar, which costs about $7.

For Christmas I got a Global Dry and Store, which is electric with a UV cycle. That is pretty expensive though, which something to consider on a budget.

This is a link that has all kinds and prices in one place.

I think it is low gentle heat on an eight hour cycle. I have not had it for long, but it does not seem like it hurts anything.

No the tube will not melt in dry & store machine because it's within safe temperature. The tube will shrink/melt if temp's as hot as lighter... which is how I remove hardened tube from my HA to replace it with new tubes. If you're out there somewhere and it's making funny noise cuz of water build-up in your tube/mold... just take it out and blow thru the tube and you're good to go.. for a while.

when you're home... before you sleep, just take it out and put it in Dry & Store machine. I have one and it works great. Expensive... yes.... but hey - it's cheaper than repairing or replacing your HA, right? It's $100 for the device and it takes 8 hrs. You can take it out anytime you want though.

cheapest way? use the desiccant jar but people have complained that it's not quite effective.

I've tried blowing throw the tube but much of the water still remains. Also, I damaged part of the ear hook trying to remove a tube once. I am happening to replace it right now.

yea.. i feel your frustration. old models' ear hooks are kinda delicate. I've broken it a few times. fortunately - my new HA ear hooks are pretty sturdy. If your tube's hardened.... use the lighter for a quick second. tube gets soften up pretty fast under flame.

but you'll figure it out for yourself quickly... good luck!

I've done the same with a hair dryer. That softens it up pretty quick too. That was before I knew the hairdryer trick though.

I also use the Global Dry 'n Store, no shrinkage, no brittleness, no moisture. Worth the price if you can afford it.

I have global dry and store too i use it for both CI and HA no problems. Had HA mold since may 2008 and used Dry and store regularly no problem in any aspects.

i also have a global dry and store. (actually, i have 2 since i'm bilateral and they came free in the box of goodies i received with my ci's.) i've been using the dry and store for my first ci for the past 4 years and haven't experienced any problems with the processor as a result. the same is true for my second processor. i've been using it for the past 2 years without any adverse results.

if the dry and store had not been provided free, i would have purchased one myself. they're well worth the money.

For those who use the dry and store. What's the difference between the professional, global, and Zephyr?

The Zephyr is little and does not have the UV. I think UV is the best feature to kill germs. That was the main reason I wanted a Dry and Store.

Global and Professional both have UV but Global is smaller and cheaper.

I don't know much of the differences but i know that zephyr is smaller and has no UV light like Botts says.

I didn't have choice of Dri and store boxes as I have The global one and it came free with Cochlear when I got activcated. (thats the norm in UK)
