I recently lost all my hearing and all i do hear is ringing in my ears. how do i know if a hearing aid would help me? Can you guys who are deaf "pop" your ears, because I no longer can and was wondering what this has to do with anything at all. You know what i mean? You plug your nose and blow and your ears "pop." Minse stopped and i'm not sure what that has to do with my hearing loss. my general practicioner says my ears "look" normal. i get really bad neck stiffness and jaw cracks too. Anyone else? It feels like i have a stiff neck most of the time, too. thanks!

Mod's Note

The thread is moved to it's proper location (Hearing Aids & Cochlear Implant section)

Hi. I read your other thread. I am sorry about your hearing loss. You have to call ENT doctor for appointment. You will get a hearing test. If you have mild or moderator or serve hearing loss. You can get a new hearing aids.

Can you check the yellow page book to look for "ENT" stand for Ear, Nose and Throat.

Hope that help

Profound losses can be aided too! I have a very profound loss and I have hearing aids that help me a little...not much but a little!

See an audilogist. They will assess your loss, and you can try an HA to see if it provides benefit for you.

Honestly, u wont know until you try a hearing aid yourself. Everyone benefits from them differently..same with CIs. What may work for one person may not work for another even if both parties have the exact same dB ranges.

First off, I am sorry you are having hearing trouble.
You need to do both..see and audiologist to find out if you would benefit from a hearing aid but see an ENT to see if they can find out why you have lost your hearing. There are many physical reasons why you could be having this problem. Some can be corrected, others can not. But, you need to take care of your health first and foremost.

After reading your other thread, I would say that chances are slim to none that a hearing aid would do anything for you. A hearing aid will not help in the case of a Conversion Disorder.

That was my initial response. Then, seeing <symbol><symbol><symbol>Pinky<symbol><symbol><symbol>'s response, I'd thought: first, see an ENT then, second, see an audiologist.

When it comes to hearing aids, an audiologist is what anyone would need.

Sorry about your problems but it's not end of the world, it can be sorted some how but first is go see an ENT and Audiologist as they would give you the advice you need.

We are not professionals on here and cannot give you the answers you need.

The ringing in your ears is tinntius.

Can you try keep the thread on one post as it's confusing if you are all over the site with different posts but about same problem.

Good luck

Off to find post about conversion disorder...

After reading your other posts, it becomes clearer, Wow, you was a high flying manager then all of sudden this happened to you and you got "laid off" just because you have a problem, I can see how it really affected you.

first moremost is see an ENT to get referal, they may also get you referal to audiological medicne which helps you to cope with tinntius. Also an Audiologist for a hearing check up to see how much you have lost and to provide what you need.

One thing I am shocked at is that you got laid off from your postition just because you have a problem. They should have let you do other jobs that is lighter for you or let you go as part timer until you recovers deaf or not.

if it is looks like you got post traumatic disorder.

It is Conversion Disorder. She has converted psychological trauma into physical symptoms. There is no physical basis for her symptoms according to the information she provided from her doctors. PTSD is not a somatoform disorder. It is an anxiety disorder. Although she may have a secondary diagnosis of PTSD, but it is not what is causing her to experience a loss of hearing.
