How did irrelevant major like english, education, biology, or economics to law career?

Is it should be government, criminiology, or communication?

It's not so much the topic of instruction that matters, it's whether or not you've demonstrated that you've learned how to learn.

Those liberal arts areas you've described are extremely broad, and generally a liberal arts undergraduate experience covers more than just knowledge transfer and skill development specific to a subject, but also hones the ability to reason and to learn from direct experience. But even beyond that, mastery of the topics you mention (English, education, biology, economics ) seems very relevant to me: the study of law is immense and covers fields from economic and business law to family law to copyright law to labor law to patent law to medical law and so on ....

You can go to law school with any degree. The only requirement for getting into law school is to have a bachelor degree, LSAT score, and some admissions stuff (recommendations, essays, etc.)

If you have a biology degree and you're going to law school - then you are most likely going to be a lawyer for FDA or pharmaceutical company.

with economic degree - you're probably gonna be a corporate lawyer
with criminology - you're probably gonna be a criminal lawyer or prosecutor

you'll be surprised what degrees that CEOs of big corporations have. Lot of them are liberal arts, English, Communication, etc for bachelor degree. But a lot of them do go to business school.

It doesn't matter what your undergrad major is. Admissions looks for strong academics and class diversity. The only area of law that requires a specific major is patent law and that requires an engineering or science degree. The easier the undergrad major the higher your grade point needs to be.

I like DJGrace's idea. My MIL majored in home economics and went to law school. She did great. lol

All of these kinds of classes are relevant. They sharpen the mind. Education is never wasted IMO.

I want to be a lawyer too! :(

You should become a Public Lawyer.....seems to be a popular choice. I am going to become a Country Club Lawyer. That is quite a step up because most of the people from my high school became jailhouse lawyers.

The idea of going back to school repulses me. I have absulotely no desire. The burning fire of educational advancement is gone. I just want to enjoy my life. :)

I dont mind being a lawyer now but that would mean going back to school which I definitely do NOT want to do as I stated earlier.

I can relate to that sentiment.

I used to want to study Law but am glad I didn't.

By the way, if Matajan plans on becoming a Public Lawyer, I would have fired him if I ever had the misfortune to have him as my lawyer.
