post ur story what u have done, what ur opinions/thoughts

Yesterday, I have tried at Fred Meyer. The guy came to ask any help. I signed "look for 1 or 2GB micro card for *pointed*(back of my Blackberry Pearl)" he realized I'm deaf, asked me to follow him to cashier's desk and he called, huh. In few minutes the lady came and signed, cool. I have gone to Fred Meyer many times. I used to rejected any help I just didn't like to write, it took me longer, and my 2 daughters with me I'd hate to focus on writting, u know. That was fast to talk with the person who knows ASL. Also I remember at DMV one of 3 clerks knows ASL, at SAM's club, cashier, and more

Whenever I approach hearing people, I test them first to see if they understand me fine and if they are easy to read lips. If that's the case, then I dont say anything about my deafness but if they cant understand me or I cant understand them, then I explain that I am deaf and I can read lips. Some people take it just fun and others freeze up.

One time, I was being silly and I went up to this lady who worked at this clothes store that I shop at ocassionally. She always came across as really snobby with how high her nose was in the air. So, for the fun of it, I went up to her and asked for help in finding something. She looked at me like strange and said "What country are u from?" I said "I am from a country called Deaf and I will bite u if u are not nice to me." She looked :eek3:

Wasnt nice but I couldnt resist..ha!
