How come oral Deaf people deny themselves, their speech are mispronunciation words.
How can profoundly Deaf people depend on read the lip long day? Eyes become straining… We rely more on our visual with our eyes. How come oral Deaf people deny themselves, they were pendent that they could understand hearing people talk. They could not catch 100% words full in one sentence. I notice high percent Deaf people who rise in oral with hearing parents into the mainstream school. They have a bad habit to pendent that they could understand the hearing people’s communication in the real world. I rather ask hearing person to repeat because I want to make sure that I can understand that person. Rather not want to break-down the communication. In stead of taking in information from our environment through the ears, we do so through our vision.
During my childhood, I was involved with hearing society like Girl Scout camping. I was left out because they did not want to bother to talk with me. I was so isolated. I felt a part of me was missing; it made me that I am abnormal begin human.
The speech therapist taught me by feeling if my throat is vibrating, because when you're talking, your voice box vibrates. Most Deaf people thought their sound has been deprivate. They still can think how they speak well. Hearing people could not understand them very well, we use interpreter for a better communication accessible.
High percent Deaf oralism people make improperly sounds for speech. When they graduated from high school and realize their learning to speak, their speech may become more distorted, as they don't know to correct any mispronunciation words. I grew up in Deaf school with speech therpaist, my pronunciation is terrible, my speak sounds like a monkey. I realized, I did not learn anything academic during middle school years... Why do I learn how to speak while I can't hear my own voice...
Why should I be ashame if I do not understand hearing people said?
