I am tired of gnats are everywhere in my house! My husband and I are tired of gnats. I think it coming from our plants and sinks. I tried to use vinegar. It doesn't work. Please tell me the advice. I need rid of GNATS!!!!! Thank you!

we usually get annoying gnats during summer. nothing we can do about it. I just spray it with rubbing alcohol. it just drop dead and I just use tissue to wipe it away - it's easier to kill it that way. You could get the sticky fly trap as well.

You should invest in getting smaller window screens (gnats can get thru regular-size window screen) and you should water less for your plants (wet area = nice breeding area). They are attracted to light so use sticky fly trap on that area.

Are you sure it isn't fruit flies? I would wash all fresh fruit throughly and then make sure it was covered.

If it is house plants, a method I know is supposed to be apple cider vinegar in a little bowl by the plant. I think the gnats are attracted and they drown.

I have no idea. gnat, black flies, fruit flies.... they all look the same to me and they are all equally annoying to me

We live in apartment. It's not my screen windows. That's exact what my mom told me about the gnats can get through the window screen. It's very small gnats can fit. Grrrrr! If we move to new house and will get small screen.

It's fall season and cold weather now. I think the gnats' eggs are in our plants. We need to rid of plants if gnats can't stop.

LoL! Heck yeah! It's annoying! The gnats came dive into my dog's water bowl. Grrr! No fruits or vegs on counter. I put these in the refrigerator.

Keep sink empty and put out bowl with fruit drink, soap and sugar leave it for couple days or a week then they'll go away (no safe food for bugs to eat)

Try put plants outside and keep the foods in the refrigerator.

Good luck

Have your landlord bomb the apartment - will kill it all off.

If problem comes back - clean up!

Something in your apt is attracting them, perhaps hidden food trapped somewhere or spills not totally cleaned up? Try to clean your ENTIRE apt - thoroughly! Use ammonia and allpurpose cleaner where appropriate (don't mix with bleach as toxic chlorine will be released). Use a steamer on your carpet, and if to no avail, foggers can help. If you have an infestation, you're better off with an exterminator! Also consider fouled up neighbors, if that's the case, take it up with your landlord. :)

Where do you live ? I only have gnats in my home during the summer. When it get cold they're done. I know if the soil in your plants are really wet all the time gnats like that , if you have a lot of plants check them to see if the soil is too wet and pull of any dead leaf. Over watering your plants will made them sick and bugs love sick plants!

The plants is for indoor and not outside. It's cold weather out there now. Ummm

Are you living in Florida?

SCBassist's post.. A good idea but I've been told that ammonia quite harmful if you're pregnant. It may possibly damage the fetus. Similar the strong smell of cat's litter as ammonia! Your family member needs to clean out your home.. Not certain if this is true or not, but I've heard it a couple of times.

I don't live in Florida. I live in Northern Indiana. My husband did use ammonia in sinks. I covered my hand on my nose and mouth. I can't touch it. I know it's not good for pregnancy to smell the chemical. No cat in my apt. Only one smaller dog live with me. I never touch the cat's litter. I know it's dangerous for pregnancy.

I can't touch the ammonia because I am pregnant. :( My husband or my mom can do it for me. I have to leave apt while they are clean up and kill the gnats.

Easy peasy. Dry the plants or repot them with new, clean dirt. Cover soil in pot with sand. Do the vinegar thing in the meantime. It does work. Not hard.

How about putting your plants outside?

Some plants attract bugs and some don't.
