I am just curious how are people affected by this power outage. The power went dim here in RI. We lost power to one of our buildings here at URI campus, but it was quickly restored. Other than that, very lil effect here in RI.

Ofcourse, if you're affected by the power outage, you probally won't be reading this for a while. LOL.

im not affected as im from the DC metro area -- but is watching the news  feel bad for those commuters who has to hoof it to get home or get a cabbie to drive them home -- RIT has been affected as well according to the map on the news of the affected areas of the blackout

at the first i heard about blackout ... and i said to myself bettter not another 9/11 so i read the news and gasped and whew glad that it isn't terrorist and now i am so afraid it would give them the idea how to do it again to blow it up and attack all same time it would be huge headaches know what i mean ?

Hey guys!

It's 4am here (12 hours after blackout started) and the power came ALIVE!!! It's ALIVE!!!

What happened to me today:
I was at work when the blackout occured. My Co-workers were very nervous when they realized that none of phones, internet, cell phones and radio (in the beginning) were not working at all. We needed these so badly to keep in touch with the businesses and our clients. We knew it was something serious than minor blackout. So, luckily I found out that my pager was working and paged just about everyone. One of my friend has sidekick and it amazingly worked! So she could see on CNN.com, it wasn't informative at that time when everyone was trying to find out what was going on.Then we went outside and went to one of co-worker's car and listened to the radio. We decided to leave early and drove CAREFULLY to home, there was no street lights, all of emergency services were shutted down. I was stuck on highway for at least an hour w/o AC on so I could save up the gas just in case if I stuck there longer than expect.
So far, there was no accidents nor I've heard anything serious. Thank god for that!
Other thing I was glad about the blackout because we always had a lot of lights here in NY and on Long Island, so tonight I got to see ALOT of stars and a couple of shooting stars! Hehe
It's so good to be back here! :thumb:

WELCOME BACK E i know it was ur first time experincing this ur lucky it wasn t up to 72 hrs as i know that would really wreck havoc! and u guys being in heat and all at least u saw the stars did u make a wish? hehehe :)

Good think that your're safe E. I knew you and Alex lived in the NYC area and I thought AD was going to be down. I hope both of you are OK and stuff. Take care.

Glad E and Alex are alright - :) Although, this blackout crisis isn't affecting me at all because I'm halfway around Earth in Australia, there has been talks around here and people voicing their fears of having the same thing happening here. So, the power plants and Electricity CEO's are trying to alleviate the fears by saying it's not possible as they monitor the system every second of the day 24/7 and have some back ups should a black out happen.

Seriously, I just hope that it'll not create any further chaos that it has already triggered and that the electricity will be restored ASAP.

Hey Matty,

I can't image if you were on the top of ferry wheel. You would be freaking out !! You better bring sleep bag and pillow in your pack in case of emergency. You can sleep on the top of ferry wheel. ;) Make sure to pack a teddy bear and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches.

Kim Hicks, of Baltic, Conn., was at the Six Flags over New England amusement park in Agawam, Mass.

"We were on the Cyclone roller coaster when the power went out," she said. "Luckily it was where it was flat, thank God, not up on top. We sat there about 20 minutes and they finally came to walk us off."

Park officials said the ride was affected by a power surge, not an outage.

I had a power outrage here in Norway, LOL
some mudslides in central Norway..

My server was offline and the internet ISP down all night until lunch today! It's funny how this area was affected at about the same time USA/Canada had their electricity bust.

But we had fun and romantic moments.. until the lights came back on! drat! Soft candles, with the kittens mewing out of confusion lala!
