Holiday Package Warning

Last year people would follow UPs and FedEx trucks and steal the packages right after if left on the steps . If you're work or out you can't watch out and people will send gifts and you'll have no idea it coming to your house. That happen to my neighbor. I went out side and found his package on the deck and it was snowing out , the FedEx guy was too lazy to leave the packing inside the hallway .

You can sign up with UPS to get notification of any package that is going to be delivered to your address. I got a pkg yesterday that I thought was something I had ordered, since I had gotten notifications. Turned out to be from a friend. Don't know if FedEx has something similar.

I don't like it when UPS dumped packages at my doorstep without letting me know. It irritates me. I usually report them. It doesn't always work.

I usually have them email me if I send/receive a package from FedEx or UPS, which rarely happens. Morever, USPS has a tracking code I can use to best estimate the arrival time of such a package. Makes it easier for me, but that's just my opinion.

I don't like to estimate the arrival time. I'm not going to sit and wait forever until UPS shows up when I have plans to go out. I don't appreciate it.

Yeah , that happen at my condo during the holiday UPS or FedEx dumped the packages on the deck which is on the front of the building but this is actually the back of the our building . Some people do not even use their deck and have no idea there is a package for them, I find it when I take my dog out and I have no idea how long it been sitting on the deck. My neighbors said they're going to call and complain about it but really does not help like you said.

It's not just because some crooks followed the delivery vehicles. Some drivers do not hide the packages out of sight at the front door. Some crooks check out the newspapers and see the packages sitting on the porch in plain view, they know someone is not home or on vacation. They just snatch the packages. Many years ago, I was the drivers helper for peak season and I was trained how to place/hide the packages out of sight as much as possible depending on spots and sizes.

Yeah I had seen that when driving around my city the package will be right in plan view . I always hope the right person get it. My sister send me a package once that had a $100 worth of stuff in it this was years ago and I never got it. I tried to track it but had no luck.

I have an account with UPS and have noted that I want my deliveries to be put in the carport near the side door. Though still visible from the street since my car is not there, it's not as noticeable as if it were on my front porch. Also, keeps the package dry if the weather is bad.

I don't know if you need an account to set up the delivery location.
