I happened to pop a bag of Orville Redenbacher's single serve mini bag microwave popcorn about the time I had also emptied a box of Scotties tissues (120 2-ply size). The hole in the cardboard where you pull the tissues out looked so similar in size to that of the bag of popcorn that I pulled the plastic off of the cardboard tissue box and the popcorn bag stood up in it perfectly! No more having to hold one of these popcorn bags or watch out for spilling the contents when putting it down. I have kept that empty tissue box and reused it to hold one of these popcorn bags a number of times.

Doing this also keeps you from having to wash a bowl from emptying the bog of popcorn in the bowl.

The instruction on the bag say to lie it down flat for a reason and the tissue box it not design to go into a microwave stove.

The tissue box is for after the popcorn is done pop-pop-popping in the microwave. Hm what an interesting 'life hack'- that is one I have not seen in all the 'life hacks'/"you are doing xyz wroooong"/ etc lists and videos.

I'm going to remember that one.

Ok , I read it very fast and thought they where putting the tissue box in the microwave . I just dump the whole bag into a bowl that has a cover . It will last a couple of days with me.
The OP should put a patent on this . I see stuff like this on TV all the time. Damn now I want some popcorn b/c Reba is eating some LOL!

I came up with this as it is the mini bag that I finish all in one sitting. With this you don't have to hold the bag while eating it or wash a bowl aftwards.

I never got the mini size , I could try them , the popcorn would taste fresher
that way. I mostly buy popcorn when my daughter and granddaughter stay over night with me and we watch a movie . What brand do like the most ?

I've had the mini's before. Those require close attention, cause they cook fast. The first time I cooked one, I burned the entire bag. :( After that, I figured out the best time to cook them at (1:15-1:30 in the microwave) than a full bag at 2 minutes.

Did you cause a power outage or for the smoke alarm to shriek?

I Banned all microwave popcorn from the house. The kids wont sit and watch/listen to the bag pop and burn them all the time. Last time at old house they set the bag on fire and the stepson burnt the first bag here just the other day because out new microwave is super powered, smoke was rollin and it stank to high heavens, burns your eyes and all... house smells ok now but microwave still stinks.

That's strange cuz we have a high wattage microwave oven that's way over 5 years old and it has a feature where you press "Popcorn" and then turn it on.......never a mishap with this feature.

Yeah, but on the box or bag, it says to not use said feature, and I never do, and never had a problem. I just put it on for 2 minutes, and it comes out good. I never did figure out why they discourage it. :dunno:

I thought about that and decided I would stick with the regular size bags.

The Popcorn feature built-in to microwave ovens sometimes is just for the full size bags. Some of the very new ones have different settings available within the popcorn feature for the different size bags.

Thus, the actual bags give a suggested starting time NOT using the popcorn feature.

Having had both I can see why guys especially would want the full size bags. But, for a gal just wanting a smaller snack the mini work.
