Hi guys, I've always wanted to connect with other HOH and deaf people, but I haven't found where until now :)

A little about me, I'm 21 and currently attending university in southern California. I love playing piano and have been playing since I was 3, it wasn't found out until I was 6 that I had a profound hearing loss.

Anyway, here's a photo (I'm on the right): http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphoto..._561328950320_19903834_33155838_4366287_n.jpg

Here's a video of me playing piano: http://www.facebook.com/v/558476781249

The hearing loss hasn't affected me negatively, I would never get surgery or any other kind of improvement (other than hearing aids, of course). At the end of the day, I always take them out and prefer just hearing "nothing".

HI, Kokonut will be happy to find another proficient hoh pianist.

Welcome. I take out my aids too. I fling them in the jar and be done! Whew. You will make friends here. Enjoy!

I was just about to say that, Botts! I think he is a "ragtime pianist". I'm not sure if it differs from a regular pianist or not.

Anyway, :welcome: to Alldeaf! :)

Hello! I'm always happy to come across any deaf/hh pianists. I've just included you in my Ragtime Piano! blog piece and have currently put you under the "Mystery 21 year old Pianst" under the Deaf/HH Pianists list of names.
Ragtime Piano!: Welcome another HOH Pianist

I remember playing Chopin's etudes growing up. Good technical exercises for your fingers and well as the great sound they carry.

Welcome somled, whoever you are!

Not sure what you mean by "differs from a regular pianist." Yes, I am a ragtimie pianist.

Ragtime Piano!

Just blogged about somled now.

Haha, I'm honored! I meant in the first post to say "A university in southern california"; I'd rather not be specific until I become more comfortable here :) There are a lot of cool videos on that site, which one is yours?

Seriously, isn't that the best feeling?!

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

To let you know I got good headphones, turned you up all the way and I love what I can hear of these Ragtime pieces.

No, what I meant was that I didn't know how much different ragtime pianists were from regular pianists (I am not very knowledgeable on musicians and musician types). I hope you didn't take it offensively, because that is certainly not what I meant. :)

Well, they simply play a different music genre, a different music period. It has a different kind of a beat that has an "off beat" to it. Or syncopated music.
