This morning, when I went to drop my son off at the babysitter's, the other kids were there including his deaf 2 year old friend. The 2 year old had just gotten implanted 2 weeks ago and I guess the dr's office gave her a fake processor. She was putting it on all the kids including my son and my son liked it so much that he started throwing a fit about leaving it on. Can you imagine hearing kids who identify themselves as deaf wanting a CI? My said kept signing "I want implant!!!!" and then flailing when I told him no cuz it is ****'s. He said "I want SAME!!!!!!!"

How hilarous is that? Maybe tmw I will take a pic of him wearing it. Hahahaha!!

 Yea I did the same thing when I was little, I kept telling my mom that I want the CI when I saw a FM part of CI, I thought it was cool while I was only 5 years old

It is very cute. I think little kids really like to be just like their friends.

My hubby is going to pick my son up cuz I am so dizzy and "high" on my meds. I got a stupid infection.

The babysitter just paged me saying that he kept asking for the fake processor all day. Oh boy...it is hilarous. I guess he identifies himself as being deaf. He prefers to sign over speaking and now this. The deaf girl's mom is taking her daughter for her activation next Wed (July 2nd) and she watches my son on Wednesdays so my son will be there. I wonder if he will have a fit over there wanting to be "activated"? :laugh2:

That would be a sight to behold!

fake processor? how do you get the fake processor? like... a dummy model?

aww that's cute. well at least he will know what it is and how it works sort of. Hopefully he doesn't get too attached to wanting one..prolly just one of those 2-3 week phases..n then it will be something else ! :p

It is like a rubber version of the processor so the little girl can get used to it or know what to expect next week. She is only 2 years old and when we ask her what happened to her when she shows off her scar. She said she fell. She doesnt really understand that she had surgery to get implanted nor understand the concept of being able to hear. She is severely profoundly deaf in both ears and hearing aids didnt work for her. I told her mother that she may be scared next week when hearing sounds for the first time and her mom is aware of it.

If his friend gets a cute colorful processor after her activation next week, I'll bet u anything my son will want one. Those two are so competive..always wanting what the other has. Drives everyone crazy. I babysat them yesterday and I had to keep my eye on them constantly czu they would push, hit, slap or bite each other for whatever they have in their hands. Those two have a love and war relationship. LOL!

Let me ask the mother for permission to post a pic of them up here.
