What is heck wrong with High School nurse's poor performance ? She sent out the first letter to the Parents. The letter said, my son needs Tetanus-Diphtheria Booster (Td) which Massachusetts Department of Public Health requires for all children have the proper immunizations.

The last Td immunization was August 1997. The new law said, it is required every 5 years instead of 10 years.

So, I made an appointment to see Peiatrician to get my son's immunication Td shot on Thursday, May 22nd.

I received a second letter, Friday, May 23rd. said, "apologized for incorrect."

Dear Parents,

Recently I sent you a notice regarding immunization update, i.e. Tetanus-Diphteria (Td) booster, which your son needed for school attendance. It has come to my attention that the information I send you may have been incorrect.

There has been some confusion from various school systems regarding the interpretation of certain immunication requirements. I have received additional clarification from the Masshole Department of Public Health's Ddivision of Epidemiology and Immunization. Subsequent Tetanus-Diptheria (Td) boosters are to be updated every ten (10) years. Thus, your student is currently in complicance with newly revised state guidelines for school attendance and will not need another Td booster.

Please accept my sincere apology. I am sorry for any confusion this may have created. If you have any further questions and/or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Sundberg, High School Nurse....

Should I accept her apologize for error to send out the letter to the Parents while my son had his booster last Thursday?

I thought, the nurses and doctors should be review more careful to prevent risky to those children ?

Of course, my son was really pissed off and want to sue that school. I am not sure if it was from Dept of Public Health incorrect ?

*sigh*

try to find a lawyer and find more information about it and if it seem strong case... then go for it and win $$$$!

Nah, I'll just let them aplogoy. I'm sure you don't want to go through any more trouble with them. If it happens too often...then yes..you need to talk to the school officials and let them know that you are tired of getting mistaken and confused over what is required for your children.

Think about how many students those school officials have to handle. I am sure that mistake happens all the time. Laws change all the time..it's very hard for the schools to undergo changes...same for hospitals...etc.

If it was me, I'll just write down a note....

"Sundberg,

Thank you for clearing the confusion of your first notice. I have proceeded to your first notice's instructions by getting my son his booster last Thursday. Please understand that you need to consider being more careful in your future notices so the other parents would not go through the same problem that I had."

And then I'll let the kid to pass it onto the teacher who can pass it to Sundberg the Nurse.

Just something to start with.

Excellent idea. The nurse will not repeat the same mistakes next time.

SilenceGold's advice is a good one.. wouldn't hurt to try that. ;)

My son is very furious at the Nurse. He said, his arm was sore and bruise this morning. :(

He dislike to see anything medical error to his physical.

Yes, I'll be furious if I was a guniea pig for someone's mistakes.

You have to look at this as a good way....you proved to yourself and the rest of us....how great a mother you are....Most of parents would be neglict to really take their children to get their shots that early. You did excellent work.

Share that with your son, "Hey, if you get a letter next year that says you need a shot if you haven't had one in the last 5 years..you wouldn't have to!"

;)
