Finally found a GOOD forum for deaf people--Awesome.

I guess an introduction to myself is in order, lol

My name is Jessi, and I've been HOH since I was born...Originally, I was supposed to be deaf by the time I was in third grade (I have sensorineural loss), but for one reason or another, the loss never progressed.

About my junior year in high school, I experienced a period where I'd lose all hearing in my good ear...I ended up losing a significant chunk of my hearing in a six month period, the result of which I can no longer use hearing aids, as the volume that I need to hear anything with is actually destructive to my hearing.

Anyway, I'm almost twenty-two now, and the doctors said that I'm still going to be deaf in the near future. I'm glad that I've had my hearing so far, though.

There is nothing wrong with being Deaf, embrace it. I am hofh as well, two out of three of my girls are hofh. The little has the worse of all of us. We use ASL and oral language. Known as total communication. My middlest just moved into a mainstream program at a regular school last year she is doing great. I remember all too well about HS, it was very difficult for me. But you learn to deal with situation and cope. You sound like a brave, strong young girl. You'll do great!

If you need anything don't be shy to PM us.

Again :welcome: to AD.
