Hello, my name is Kim, and my girlfriend, Carrie, is taking a class in American sign language at our nearby college. We are both "hearing" persons. She doesn't have internet access, so I often help her find information on-line. She has an assignment on the deaf perspective due next month, and tomorrow she must submit a topic to her teacher. She will find out if she can do her paper on guide dogs. I thought it might be a good idea to find someone who owns and uses a guide dog, how they went about it, how old they were when receiving a guide dog, and how it has helped them out in their everyday lives. If anyone out there owns a guide dog and would be willing to tell their story, could you let me know here, or feel free to e-mail me at home. It would be a wonderful help and we would very much appreciate any assistance we can get. When Carrie has finished school, she hopes to become a speech therapist. Thank you so very much!
