New to room. Hi! I already found help with phone service here. From San Angelo, TX. Think I may be only one, or maybe two or three more.
It's nice to be here. Thanks for being here.
Deaf/HOH I lost most hearing abt 9 yrs ago, due to surgery. Already lost more to age, maybe heredity problem. I am now "hard of hearing". That means with 2 major big hearing aids I can do ok, but can't wear them due to problems with infection. I wear one of those "listener" things with head phones most of the time. Within two or maybe three years I will be "deaf". I rely on pet dog (not "hearing dog") for wake ups, door alerts, drop in visitor alerts. At work I rely on my version of lip reading, (best guess) my version of cued speech, (hold up asl alphabet in response to HUH??) and my friendly coworkers. I probably did post earlier but got lost in the page. I am just learning, sorry!
You have a nice photo. I love babies.
Me too! Isn't she precious? I could go on all day about her, but I'll spare you. :P (I assume you are talking about me because I am the only one with a photo of a baby.). Anyway, welcome here and don't worry about being new! You'll catch on!
ahh, understand now. Deaf. LE mod/sev RE profound (audiologist)
because there is what they have called "residual"???? some say HOH. (family doc)
Can't and won't usually wear the HA's due to rec. infections, irritations. Pbflllt to doc who doesn't have itchy ears! I wear a listening thing that DARS got for me. More power than HA's and no ite probs
I usually say "DEAF". When I take off the equipment, it sure is peaceful.Hope it is less confusing now
The warm welcome is nice, Thanks to you all. It's so pleasant to have so many friendly greetings.
Does any one here like or have a dog? I have Holly, she is my helper and friend.
