So, I wrote up this big long blog saying hi, but my internet decided to not like me and not take it.

So this one will be a bit shorter :)

Hi, my name is Lori. I live in Santa Monica. I am 21, hearing, and have taken extensive classes in ASL. I started out the classes to fill some school requirements, but fell in love with the language and am only a few classes away from having my associates in American Sign Language Interpreting. Though, this is not my goal. My goal when learning the language was not to make money and work as an interpreter, but to simply learn the language and meet new people and learn about a new culture.

I work in the medical field. I am an EMT and a Phlebotomist. I currently have two jobs, one is at an ambulance company and the other is with a blood donation company.

I learned at my job at the blood donation company that people cannot donate if there is not someone on staff that speaks their language, be it Spanish, Japanese, Korean, or ASL. This means that if there is no one working at that blood drive that speaks ASL a Deaf person would not be able to donate.

Learning this made me think. I know ASL so I can make myself available to Deaf people who would like to donate blood. Note: this is still not making money off of learning the language, I would be working either way :)

So, if you are interested in knowing my schedule you can email at BloodDonationTerp@gmail.com

I go to different places daily including, but not limited to: colleges, churches, companies, fire stations, et cetera.

I hope to make new friends here and hopefully help out where I can. I look forward to conversing with everyone. :)
