Hi JZ and welcome. Very interesting read and I think you will do just fine. I'm a CI user, both sides and also most likely one of the oldest on this site. There are quite a few groups in Phoenix but admit I don't know very many of them. I'm in Casa Grande so a bit south of you. Also of the hearing world with very little skills in sign. Possible to get lucky with the CI as well as from what you have said I would guess reparable and most likely just a broken wire. I would think that in a city the size of Phoenix there would be someone that could determine the problem w/o paying an arm and a leg.Good luck D
