Hi guys. My name is Brad. I am not deaf but my girlfriend is. I am stationed over here in Germany with the USAF. I have been seeing my girlfriend Helene for over a year and if all goes well plan on proposing early next year when I get back from a 6 month deployment. I leave in September. I found this website and decided to register because I would like to find out more about the deaf community where I PCS to when I finally figure out where that will be. I leave here in Oct 2010. I have a few places in TX and Fl on my dream sheet but that doesn't mean I'm guaranteed to get one of those places. My girlfriend is not fully deaf but can only hear loud noises and not very clearly. She grew up here in Germany so she speaks DGS german sign language. She reads lips so she speaks fluent german and is getting pretty good at English but has a hard time understanding most people but me because they talk so fast. I have taken a few german classes and she has taught me some signing but we will both be learning ASL when we get to the states. Between German, English and signing we usually get our point across pretty well. So anyway I might be on here asking questions or browsing threads every once in a while. Just wanted to stop in and say hi
