One of my friends is always talking about this TV program "The Biggest Loser". Someone made a joke. Why don't you go on it if you're talking about it so much? My friend took offense to this!! She told the person that is not a nice thing to say.

How come???

What if a person talked about Pawn Star all the times and I made a joke about the person going on it? Would the person laugh about it? I'm sure it will be funny to the person. I think that some people need to lighten up.

I think that this person took offense because someone was implying that she was fat. Oh my!! Some people just interpret things poorly!!

I was tempted to tell her that this person meant it as a joke, but I decided it wasn't worth my breath.

As a general rule of thumb it is best to avoid jokes that have to do with weight since people can be sensitive. Especially somewhere public like facebook!
Her interpretation may have been "you need to lose as much weight as the people on tv" it could be embarrassing to have your friends and family see that. She also may also not have thought she needed to lose as much as on the show.
