I love this website, and I love the Deaf community. I'm looking to make friends or to know about events in NYC and around. I would like to improve my ASL skills and at the same time understand more about the Deaf culture and needs
 
Have you checked out meetup.com ? I would wager that they have ASL/Deaf events in NYC.
