Hi everyone!
I've been browsing AllDeaf for a while and finally decided to join your wonderful ranks. I am a young gent from Canada (the affectionately dubbed "Winterpeg" to be precise) who has worked in fitness for the past 5 1/2 years. I have had many interactions with d/Deaf (hope I'm typing that right) through these past few years, and due to a "joke" played on me in my teens, I am rapidly entering deafness (sound system was tinkered with and blew my eardrums, healed, and is now rapidly changing...still have to get a full check up). I am deeply fascinated by deaf culture as a whole and am very excited to be a part of the AllDeaf community, and hopefully get a better understanding of the world I am now becoming a part of. Next month my girlfriend, friend and myself are going to our local deaf centre for ASL lessons together, and I hope to learn a bunch from that too
