For Dreamcast owners who've played "shenmue"...I have one problem with this game. It wont let me load my saved files! so I thought the memory's fucked up or something and if you know how to deal this problem, please, just PLEASE give me a hollar! I beg you! help me...help you! so please help me finish this game! thanks!

Did ya save it thru the VMU?

Go over to http://www.gamefaqs.com and get to the Dreamcast section and click on Hardware faqs/troubleshooting.

Or check the tech support pages at http://www.sega.com .

Lets hope it helps for u to finish off Shenmue. (tsk tsk on me since I didn't finish Shenmue 2. I traded the game in for Pro Race Driver before I could finish Shenmue2 off)

I just wrote a complaint to Sega and hopefully I would get my answer in less than 24 hours. thanks.

if anyothers knows this situation, please give me a hollar. ;)

Oh well, I'm going to say this anyway... usually, 3rd party VMUs are not as reliable as the original Dreamcast-made VMUs. Those 3rd-party VMUs are modified and not completely compatible with some games. Once, a friend of mine bought a 3rd-party memory card for his Nintendo 64. He spent 2 hours creating various characters for his WWF game. He saved it all then started the game. It all was gone. He tried again, it all was gone again. Another friend spent all day saving points and Mountain Dew cans on his Rush USA game. By the time he had earned a lot of cars and bonus features, he lost it all cuz his 3rd-party memory card didn't work! Grr!

yeah I had bought a third party memory card for the DC (made by performance) and I was playing Sonic Adventure, as that was my first DC game, and after awhile I went to play this again, the files were gone! I was halfway through Sonic's adventure and was going to play as Tails in Tail's Adventure but had to start aaaalll over again it was really frustrating so I've read the Instruction Manual on the DC and said that it would work better with Sega's memory card and it worked pretty well so most of the games I played are still there...even for more than 3 years now. The reason I lost the file on Shenmue was that I accidently opened the disc while the game was saving and it messed up the saving/loading time so I had to start over again, and it saved my game so there was no problem. I try to be more careful now...I just thought it was my VMU that was totally messed up but I was the one who messed this up lol so anyway the saving/loading worked fine and I finally beat that greatest game of all time on the Dreamcast. :) such a memorial and fanantastic game that no gamer should go without.

I'm now playing Shenmue II on Xbox and to be honest, it is quite fun and cool but in some parts, it was frustrating and tiring...why? because not only the game is harder but you must be extremely careful with money in this game...once you get robbed when you arrive in Hong Kong, you have to get a job and then later on, someone tells you that you need 500 dollars...500 dollars!??!?! and I only had like 40-50 dollars so it took me like 3 days to get 500 dollars...ugh it was a big fat waste of time and I heard later on in the game I would have to get another 500! damn...I had no idea those people in Hong Kong would be so darn greedy...

What problems are you having with your Xbox? Most places will only give you store credit for up to $50 for your Xbox. You're better off keeping it and buying another whole new system.

I bought new game then put xbox console and keep appear "there may be dust or damage" I cleaned the back CD and put it in again and fine. (not always fine) Sometime freeze game.

Christo...how old is your xbox?

If it is a 2001 launch (November 15) there was issues regarding the DVD drives made by Thompson that M$ used in the early xbox's.

Mine has a Philips drive and I hadnt had a Dirty Disc error on it. However it is hard to tell which brand of DVD drive is used in the xbox.

WARNING on this link: It contains modchip and some info that would make Billy Boy pretty unhappy but it has pics of what the xbox DVD drives look like.....

I got mine in summer 2002 so I think it's running fine anyway but when I put in some DVD, sometimes it gets alittle froze up when it been playing too long so I think the PS2's DVD player is better, no offense

Tell that to me about the PS2 DVD player. My old PS2, a mid 2001 version had a lot of DDE's since I played a lot of DVD movies, but not games burned on DVD discs on the machine. It happened a lot frequently until I sold the PS2 to raise some $ for my bills last Feb (tsk me for I forgot to tell the buyer about the DDE problems)

Well I didnt hear from the buyer since...seems like he must have fixed the DDE problem or whatever. I just said that I forgot to mention...convenient excuse on my part :P Also one more thing: I played the poor PS2 pretty heavy every night for the 1 1/2 years it was in my possession.

<--Poster child for the need of heavy-duty stuff

Since the Xbox Next isnt out til 2K6......Why not just go ahead and exchange it for a new one....

Be sure ur new xbox has the Samsung DVD drive. in another post I thought mine was Philips drive until last night I found out mine had the Samsung DVD (2 circle on each side along with the big circle on the tray). Pretty reliable considering mine has been abused a lot.
