Okay FOLKS-- (that if you still care!)
Here's the update:
I ended up walking all way from NY.Florida Station to Gallaudet... apparently I walked on the "worst" street out of all-- M Street. Oh well. I survived~
I did got a pass to ride on the shuttle but... I came when they weren't operating... so I was screwed. Was about to wait for a friend with a car to come and get me but... my pager died on me so I didn't have a chance to tell her where I was at
doh
... Soooo yeah I walked... it was at 10am so not bad.
DC is a-okay. Went to DPHH. Crowded. But... clique-y...everybody just wants to talk with their FRIENDS, not to social with new people. Met a HoH woman who just nodded at everything and not understand us (i think that is the worst thing you can do to a Deaf person-- to nod and not understand waht s/he says! COM'ON, just ask them "I dont understand, can you repeat/rephrase"). I got judged on for "behaving like a hearing person"... :sure: 'Susci me for being humble! A lot of Deaf work for the government. Where are the liberal folks-- bibliophiles, theologists, and artists???
I don't care how much you are proud/affectionate with DC: IT IS NOT FOR ME. So I probably will move to DC with my legs kicking and being dragged because my husband LOVES it.
(sighing) Oh well. It was nice to see my old friends at Gally, altho.
Now-- Home, Sweet Home HERE I COME!
(counting down the hours to Sunday 2pm EST)
