ps if you can find any info, i would appreciate it if the schools were in the midwest...i was born and raised in wisconsin and id like to stay close if possible.

Here's one for you:

Saint Paul College // Programs // Sign Language Interpreter/Transliterator

I'm aware that in the Twin Cities (aka Minneapolis/St. Paul, Mn.) have several outstanding college courses for those seeking interpreting careers, although, am not sure about the dual degrees available, but checking into the Twin Cities area might be a good start as this is close to Wiscosin. (I'm from Iowa...knows the Midwest quite well. ;) )

You can also try 'googling' here's the link to it>> Google

Good luck with your search! :thumb:

Where are you in Wisconsin? I grew up in Milwaukee.

If you are in or near Milwaukee, Try University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, they have such an program, I believe.

LUCIA!!! hi im from that area myself

well, i had found quite alot of information about the interpretation degrees, but i dont want to be an interpreter, so i dont know if its the same class and i would just need to do my teaching degree also...but i did find the joint degree at 1 college so far and that is milwaukee!!!

To teach ASL in Ohio at the postsecondary level, you have to have ASLTA certification. That requires proof of competency, proof of having signed for at least 5 years on a daily basis, knowledge of Deaf Culture, and submission of a video tape. I would suggest working on an education degree with a minor in deaf studies and interpreting.
