Hello! I am new here! I am 17 years old
Any teenagers here?

hello there and welcome! there is a 15 year old that joined a day or two ago. I am not sure if there are any others but you are welcome to look around and chat with any of us, we are all here for the main reason of hearing but we do have chats about other things so feel free to browse. I've only been here two weeks and it feels like a second home already.

I was born with a hearing loss and it has gotten gradually worse. by the time I reach 45 I will probably be totally deaf. My husband and I are in the process of learning sign language so we can at least talk to each other. My parents want me completely on hearing aids and oralism (which mean reading lips and responding by talking) instead of making it easier for me to communicate. I have about 75%hearing loss I think total for both ears, the left is worse. So what is your story? You do know you can get help by going to your states department of rehabilitation services. when you go to college they should have a person on campus that works for them to help you. For instance I trained as a nurse when I was 21 and they bough me my first pair of hearing aids and they bought me a stethoscope that had an amplified bell on it with a years supply of batteries for it. They help you to get to your job goals by helping you learn and adapt in the area you need it most.

hi

I am 17 years old, I have been deaf all my life due to being 3 months premature, the drugs i needed to save my life damaged my hearing so i became deaf between birth and 3 months. I am severe to profoundly deaf, i have a freedom cochlear implant and a hearing aid. i was brought up orally but can do british sign language. i sign with friends and my boyfriend but talk at home as family not good enough. iam in college doing childcare , i do have an interpreter. went to a school for the deaf 3yr-11 yrs then went to hearing high school which had a hearing imapired unit.

so where in England are you? I met my husband online and he was born in Colchester but when we met he lived in Stockport.
also: He has a deaf cousin with cochlear implants, she travels all over the world teaching sign, her name is Rachael Williams, you might know the name?

i dont know rachel williams. i live in greater manchester

I don't know where she lives at in England I just know she goes all over helping teach sign language and that she is family of my husband Tony. Have you lived in Greater Manchester all your life? When I lived with Tony in England for about four months we lived about one block from the A-6 in Stockport and we walked on a crosswalk over the M-60 to a shopping mall type area from a park. I loved England, it was beautiful there. Tony's mum works for the BBC and has a big two story house in downtown London right next to the BBC office she works at. His Dad and Marilyn live in Suffolk in a nice pretty house with a gorgeous garden out back.Tony has a sister that will be 31 this January 1st named Lizzy and she is Downs syndrome but functions at a very great level, she is better than me in a few areas. I know she can handle money better. he also has a brother but we don't talk to him that much for reasons of him being crazy and all. Lizzy is great she lives on her own, takes her own holidays and such and has a "spends" account that she can use to shop when she wants. If you can log onto myspace I have pictures of her there, MySpace.com - Steph_P - 32 - Female - CULLMAN COUNTY, Alabama - www.myspace.com/sjp9700.

Welcome Deafteen90. I am in canada, 26, almost 27 EEk, hearing, learnt sign language because i needed an option to fill for my Education Degree. Took one class, fell in love, and now have completed the ASL classes and have applied to the interpreter program.

What do you do for fun?
