My name is Kateline, I am hearing. I am 18 and currently looking into a career as an interpreter or other jobs that require ASL. I was hoping to build up on knowledge about sign language before I actually try to take a class for it. I would greatly appreciate if anybody could help me out! A basic review of what I need to know, I definitely don't want to offend anybody, I know there are many things that are considered rude and I'd like to know more! Thank you!

I would start with history. Knowing why, how, when, and who. It helps understand the need for asl. Also welcome to AllDeaf :)

:welcome:

Try to find an ASL class that includes instruction on Deaf history and culture with the language instruction. A Deaf instructor is best.
