Hello! I am not deaf, but my father-in-law has been struggling with hearing loss for a significant period of time. It has finally come down to almost zero hearing in both his ears, and we, as a family, have decided to learn sign language.

I know virtually nothing about the language, but I have a friend who is willing to help me. Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

This is a great place to start, and it's nice to see someone take a little bit of time to introduce themselves, not just type "Hi, I am sex girl." lol!

LOL yea thats true.

Just read every threads as much as you can once you know little more about where you can find a place what you want to learn ASL.

Good luck!

Don't limit him to sign language because he is not use to being around the deaf world right now. So make sure he learns to lip-read in order to understan his hearing family and friends. Remember you said the family is going to learn to sign but his friends might/might not want to learn. Communication is a 2-way street.
