Hello, new here. Try to guess my name. :hmm:
I'm 36 y.o. I had a CI installed in spring of 2001 and has been doing well so far. I used to wear in the canal hearing aids for many years, then BTE aids, now just the CI on the left side. My hearing has been on the decline for the past several years until 01 when it hit rock bottom in just a matter of a couple of hours. It was really weird when my hearing left me. It sounded like a static radio gradually fading out. I thought it was the BTE or batteries on the BOD (brink of death). After changing out the batteries, no change so thought it was the BTE going out since I just had it fixed a few days before. So I go to a hearing repair shop for a hearing test, and judging the looks of their faces after the test I knew what the problem was. My ear doctor did not believe the repair shop test we're valid so they did a test of their own and came up with the same results. So after waiting for about 3-4 months, I finally had the CI installed, the another month later I get the device in, programmed and tested. That was one pain in the neck/head surgery I ever had but was worth it.

Welcome aboard, Jon. Thanks for sharing your hearing experience with us. I wear a digital BTE hearing aid on my left ear only. My right ear is almost deaf and a hearing aid is useless according to my audiologist.

Glad to know CI was right for you.
