Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, I just found this forum on the internet...been wanting to meet more deaf people. My name is Kaelei but most of people I know signs my name as KLW as there are two of us in the group that has same name therefore, they (Deaf friends) added my last name to the KL.
I'm profoundly deaf, has been since I was born and I have cochlear implant on my left ear, had it since age of four. I was put through Oral school, Tucker Maxon Oral School since 14 months old to learn how to speak and read lips. But mainstreamed to hearing school at 1st grade and has been going to hearing school since then. I haven't known any sign lanuage uptil 8th grade and ever since, I've been learning ASL, can't get enough of it as I love signing. Been meeting more deaf people/friends through my deaf friends during High school and after high school.
I love how people express their emotions through signs and it amazes me how we deaf people can show that while on other hand, hearing people only show their emotions through their voice which is hard to detect for us, deaf people. I look forward to getting to know all of you and maybe perhaps become friends.
