I'm deaf myself and I have four children. I am having hard time trying to pronounce my last baby's name, Sarah. Shes now 14 months old. I feel like its too late to change her name. I am not sure what to do, should I add one name and keep Sarah Elizabeth as her middle names? Any names you suggest that's easy to pronounce/say for deafies like myself? Lots of people in my family are hearing, they'd think I'm nuts for changing the name Sarah. That's why I thought why not keep that as a middle name. As for my husband, he's the one that wanted the name Sarah. Well, here's the reasons why I want to change is, I'm not in love with the name Sarah and its hard for me to pronounce. Tell me what do you think??
Thanks very much,
A

Is the main reason you want to change her name because you find it hard to say ??

What part of Sarah are you having trouble with? ( I personally have trouble with getting "s"&"r" right sometimes)

Is there someone that might be able to help you work on the pronunciation ? Do you want that ?

I worked for YEARS to be able to say "regular" properly ... I'm not sure why I had so much trouble but I finally did figure it out!!

Honestly - I would keep her name as it is - it's a beautiful name... I'd think it would be rather confusing for everyone to change her name now. That being said, some people call me by my first name, and some people call me by a short form of my middle name ... so if you're really struggling you could always call her Liz (Lizzie), or Beth from her middle name - or Ara, as a nickname of Sarah if that's easier ??

You're the Mommy who went through labor pains - go for it. Do what you want :). Maybe you can confide in a hearing friend who can work with you on names that are easy to say...Leah? Belle? Kay?

Sarah might be a little confused but she'll adapt. It is a beautiful name, though. Or you can just pick a nickname and start calling her that nickname.
