Hello.

As per the title (yes, that is correct) I am Canadian born and raised, currently living in the UK with my hearing partner (who is Welsh).

We want to move back to Canada and so are trying to learn ASL as I would like to retrain to work with deaf/HH, possibly as a teaching assistant. I attended a high school with a fairly large deaf/HH department and quite a few of the students also came to participate in our 'hearing' classes.

Unfortunately there is almost no ASL stuff here, so we are making do with sites like Lifeprint and also an ASL DVD from Learnsignlanguage.co.uk. It's really frustrating not having any courses or even fluent ASL signers to talk to, and if I wanted an ASL certificate to help me find work (I currently work on the railway in an office job) there are no courses here either. Feeling a bit stuck!

I'm hoping to maybe meet a few people to practice signing with via video chat and also to ask about what sort of jobs we should be looking for once our signing skills are better.

tl;dr: Hello
