Hello, I am Michelle. I am hearing, engaged to a deaf man. He went to NYSSD, and we met when we were kids. I took a class way back when in ASL, didn't see him for 20 years, we re-met in August 2004 and have been together ever since. I actually have a question, if I may. He and I have gone to some deaf events together, and I have attended some alone. I notice a HUGE discrepancy in the way I am treated when I am alone as compared to when we are together. Is there anything I can do to transition easier, and does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you very much.
