My name is Charlotte, I am from wet wet wet England! :D It's Pissing down with rain and it's supposed to be summer, as u can see I am bored. I have been browsing through the website to get as much imformation on Cochlear Implant and came across this site.

There's more tips/help on this site than those in UK. I don't think many people are that interested in CI, Majority of Uk people who have CI's are kids and Old people.... I am 30! I fall in between.

Little about me... I was Born profoundly deaf, brought up Oral, Mainstreamed until 11 then went private oral deaf boarding school until 17, mainstream college until 22. I seem to have managed my school life really well, had so much confidence, so many hearing friends but now i am struggling with jobs, social life, and my confidence had dropped due to rejections at job interviews.

I am being implanted on the 16th July with nucleus, I will be using Freedom. I am looking forward to hearing better (i hope!)

Hope to be able to ask you some relavant questions when time comes and if i need to.

Take care :h5:

Really, your parents lives in Austria, not in England. It would takes you familiar with German languages when you live in Germany or Austria. I live in Germany for almost 23 years and feel German language as my first language because I live in Germany for a long time. I have a German husband and together have 2 boys... We communiate each other in German and at work, both English and German.

Do you live in Austria with your parents or still in England?

Guten Tag!!! :D

I live in England, My parents recently retired and moved to Austria (karnten) for better life and mountians (we are serious skiers!!!) I have been there few times... Yeah i see what you mean about staying in Austria to learn the language!.... I have few german words stuck in my head like Schicken.... which is ham not Chicken! I can pick out few foods on the menu that kind of thing but not holding a conversation.... that would be difficult i think... Maybe better with CI???

Interesting...

Schicken?
chicken = Huhn or Hähnchen
Ham = gekochte Schinken

Honestly, it make no difference either you wear HA, CI or not... but you can still learning only if you really want to. I haven't wear HA for over 20 years and not moviate enough for CI... Nothing just me... deaf... but I know German language well.
