Hi all,

My older sister is deaf, but I have not yet learned ASL. I want to try to learn it this summer. If anyone knows of any ASL tutor in northern NJ, please message me!

Thank you!

Sincerely,
Erica

Union County College has offered excellent ASL courses.

or u can go to Bergen County College

Hello! <-- from South jersey

Why can't you learn from your sister? Ask her that you would like about 15 mins per a day for her to sit down with you and teach you the basics? Go by category for each time. I am deaf myself and I use my voice with my family and... it's easier for them to just talk to me. They really want to learn sign but I don't have any patience so maybe your sister have the same attitude, I don't know. Sometimes, during dinner, I teach the family about 3 signs. but that didn't last. I don't know if your sister is into the deaf world. Some deaf people go to deaf events like DPHH, bowling gatherings, etc. If she does, go with her. It's a lot better to interact with other deaf people and you get to learn a lot that way. If you REALLY want to take classes, look for college that provide classes. Im not familiar with north jersey but look around, ask around, ask your sister. Good luck. :)
