Hello All-
My name is Becca, I'm 22 and I live in Rural Maine. while I've identified as hearing most of my life, that's quickly changing. When I met my *now* mother-in-law, an interpreter, she quickly caught on to the fact that I rely quite a bit on lipreading- something I hadn't realized before (I thought my inability to understand what people were saying when they turned away or with background noise was a product of ADHD, not hearing loss). We now know I have moderate hearing loss in my left ear and minor in my right.
My husband and I both use ASL on a daily basis- he is an aspiring interpreter.
