Hello everyone. My name is Don,

I'm a hearing adult who is the father of a deaf child (5 years old) who has bilateral cochlear implants.

I am here to learn about DHH culture so I can try to help my son navigate his life and explore his options.

Please know that I am very new to DHH culture, but am very interested in learning. If I say something that offends or is utterly ridiculous, please know it was said without any ill intent.
 
Hello and Welcome! Please make sure your son can also use sign language as well as speech. I know some educators of the deaf advise you only to use signing as a last resort but I think this is wrong. If your son can use Sign language it will greatly benefit him in times when the CI fails to work.
