I have been signing for about 11 years now. I worked under a sign language linguistics professor for a while and will be teaching ASL 101 in the fall. I just moved back to my hometown that doesn't have too much going on so I would love to find some people to chat with over skype so that I can stay active with my signing. Excited to sign with some of you!
First question to ask you. Are you Deaf or Hard Of Hearing (HOH)? You did not mention if you have hearing loss or not.
If you are hearing, then you can not possibly be able to teach ASL class in your area in the city. You have to be Deaf in order to be a Deaf teacher for the Deaf class (both hearing and deaf/hard of hearing). In addition to the Deaf class, you also have to teach them about Deaf Culture, too. Was the professor deaf or hearing? I am being blunt about it.
