Hello everyone!

Let me introduce myself! I am currently in my second semester in College for Sign Language Interpreting and I have learned more than I ever thought I would. I do enjoy all that I am learning and look forward to graduating from the program next May!

I am not sure if I want to be a Sign Language Interpreter because something else appeals to me even more. That is to be able to work with parents when they find out their child is Deaf and to be able to enlighten them to Deaf Culture and the Deaf Community. That is what I'd like to do but at this point I don't even know if that sort of job/career exists. That is what I'm hoping to do though. Time will tell though. I believe in fate and by the time I graduate just the right position will come along for me and it will open new doors and brand new experiences!

I have a little boy who is 7 years old and he goes to school with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children so he is learning some sign language along with me and just this week he learned to count to 100 in sign...it is so cute to see him moving his little fingers and counting like that!

Enough for now and I'm looking forward to making some new friends!

Have a great day!

Hello and welcome to Alldeaf sportsmom! Interesting introduction, with such a positive outlook that's not only appealing to you, but for your son as well. Surely something will indeed open up for you down the road and I'm convinced that whatever it is that you do pursue, not only will you succeed, but have such a positive influence and impact to those around you! ;) Anyhow, hope you'll enjoy your stay here in AD! :)

Hello Gayla. Stick around here and enjoy yourself. I graduated last year from a program in San Antonio, TX with an Assoc. Degree in ASL. Unfortunately am not fluent enough to interpret. I moved to Kentucky six months ago and did a little work at KY School for the Deaf. Left them because I needed something with more hours, but am hoping to find work out in the community. Here's a link for you to check out.
