Hearing loss demos

These demonstrations are very eye opening for those hearing who don't understand the different levels ofhearing loss. It is amazing how discrimination drops even when they are able to hear the sound of the voice speaking. These are very good teaching tools to get people to understand how hearing sound, and being able to understand sound are two very different things.

Thanks for posting this. I hope the hearing posters will take advantage of it.

you are welcome.. I hope so,too.. at least you know the difference between hearing and understanding

Thanks for the link. It's a very edudational one for the hearing. A lot of them don't realize that with this type of loss sound is distorted as a result.

And that a great deal of distortion occurs with even a mild loss.

That's a neat site but the first thought in my mind was "I wish I could customize it for me" My audiogram starts at "normal" then drops sharply then back up a bit at 2khz, then drops again sharply to noting (100+ db) I did a quick search and found this!!

Now I can show my hearing family what it's freaking like for me and they'll stop being jerks, (though living in another state has helped ;) )

My husband was very interested. He said I can't hear anything, I can't understand - Welcome to my world. I did tell him, my hearing was worst than the demos. Then I clicked on mild and normal to show him how I hear now.
