Hey all, I'm an ASL1 student in Austin. Nathie Marbury is my professor. I've wanted to learn ASL for a very long time, I hope to be proficient enough in it to where it will help me in my teaching career. Any ideas on where to get more interaction with Deaf people in this area, or anything that will help with my learning the language and the culture?

Hello and welcome to Alldeaf! Being here is one way to interact and perhaps meet others who might live nearby...Deaf clubs, schools/colleges are a few others you can try reaching out to. In the meantime, hope you'll enjoy your stay here in AD! ;)

Welcome to AD Gertie and enjoy. I graduated from San Antonio College two years ago. They have a large ITP if you're ever down there. Was Nathie featured on the Signing Naturally videos? The name sounds familiar.

Here's the link for TSD (TX School for the Deaf).

I've just heard about the last two tonight while looking for info. Makes me want to move home again. Good luck with class. Hope this helps.

PS: There's a school near Dallas that offers a Deaf Education degree. Here's another link to check out. I'm on a roll tonight.

I'll send others when I find them.
