Hearing Aids - Widex vs Oticon

Hello. I am currently using Widex that I have had for about seven years. I was told by my audiologist that Oticon is much better and I am thinking of upgrading. I have profound hearing loss. Does anyone have experience with Oticon chile 9? As you know HA's are really expensive and I am wondering if its worth it. Thanks.

There's more power in the Phonak Naida UPs then the chilli. Chilli takes a smaller battery then the Phonak Naida UP.

I know I can't have Oticon Chilli as they don't go as powerful in the low frequency and over all they are slightly less power, when you are profoundly deaf, every db counts!

I do think they way you can open the battery draw on the Chilli and the audio shoes can stay in place without moving is good. With the Phonak Naidas, you have to put wear on the FM contacts Everytime you open battery draw.

I don't know anything else :)

Had both and liked both, but I wear a Phonak today. Unless I can get better sound with those models(if they move to more channels), I'm sticking with Phonak which has a good FM system.

At the end of the day, it really comes down to how your hearing works with the aid no matter what brand.
 
I've worn twin Oticon Sumoe since 2004 with 675 batteries. They suit my need and I'm profound deaf (L-108db & R-105db). I have an audiologist that I really trust and that is what is important for every deaf person. You might qualify for state aid, I did, if you are working or a student. Check it out.

yeah and I can open my hearing aid battery door to put the boot on and making sure it stays in place! (one stays in place, the other boot doesn't) :D

Oticon's pretty good too. but Naida are great for losses like yours so there's alot of Naida peeps in da party!
 
Thank you all who replied!! My audiologist never even brought Phonak into the mix. It's the high frequencies that knock me off the chart below profound hearing loss. Again thanks.

Which means phonak Naida with sound recover will work better for you :) Bring your highs into the better lows. You don't need to have perfect low frequency for it to work :)

That's right. I have Naida because of pretty good hearing int the low frequency
 
With your question, is it worth it? I would upgrade to phonak due to sound recover and I would say you would notice a huge benefit. Everyone is different tho so you would need to trial them to make sure :)

I have Widex and I really love that brand. I've had only two brands in my lifetime: Starkey and Widex and Widex just rocks...I'd go with whatever you're most comfortable with. Remember the audi isn't going to be wearing the hearing aids, you are. You might, if you're able, to try another audi just to get a different perspective. Buying hearing aids is a lot like buying a car, it doesn't hurt to shop around for the best deal....

Widex versus oticon

Both companies have good points. You have a trial period so ask to try both. The widex power is called the Super. It comes with three different receivers or power.
As a proffesional I have fit both. Some patients have found the chili was power but didn't reduce background noise as much as they wanted. Try both
