hearing aid VS CI

mine's hearing aid, I don't want CI into my ear. That scared me.

I wear two hearing aid since I was a kid.

In my opinion, I think better hearing aid than CI.

My hearing aid doctor gave me advice not to get CI. He's one of my good doctor and a good heart man.

I know some of you who's Ddeaf/Hhoh doesnt want to wear hearing aid for whatever reason, I understand that.

To be honest with you,
I can't live without hearing aid. That's how I feel. I need to hear everything in background except I sleep without hearing aid ---quiet in my ears---
My doctor will give me a new digital hearing aid next year. My hearing aid is analog.

Perhaps because they cannot hear with a HA, and choose to hear with a CI.
You can hear with the HA... excellent.

I am deaf (120 dB in both ears) and I am hearing the music coming from the TV. If that is not music then, I have been halluciating all these years about what I "hear". My aide always calls my name from the other room at work and she says I respond each time. If that is not "hearing" then what is it?

Cloggy, here in the states, there is wiggle room in qualifying for CI.
Yes, the CI rocks in the cases where people don't get any benifit from traditional HA. I've got NO beef with that. As a matter of fact, I think that CI can and should be allowed if the person has some speech perception with HA. (like up to 45%) Do they let people in countries with socialized health care get CI, if they have speech perception with HA?

doesn't "deaf" mean 100% NO-SOUND disability? if you can hear even just 1% unassisted... that'll be HOH..... right?

Nope. That degree (1%) would be considered profoundly deaf. There are very very few deaf people who cannot hear something. It just depends on the frequency and dB level.

That's great that you're happy with your hearing aids! I was the same way myself, been wearing hearing aids since I was a baby, couldn't go a day without my hearing aids, and thought I'd always be a hearing aids user 'til tinnitus and vertigo changed my whole world, so here I am, a bilateral CI user as of June 4th.
May 28th, my audi will activate my newly implanted side but won't let me wear my current CI for one week, hence why I won't 'offically' be a bilateral CI'er til June 4th although I am now a bilateral implantee.

While I love my CI, I do sometime get sad and miss the simple days of hearing aids but then again, I am reminded of all the ear infections I've endured, all those times when people glare at me telling me "your damn hearing aid is "eeeeeeeeeeeee"ing!" then I get extremely thankful for my CI, not having to deal with any of that right now.
