I can't claim to know everything about this, but the human ear, working with the brain, is very sophisticated. When you look at the range of hearing on speech on a chart you are only seeing several points, but human hearing is not bound to just those points. Having said that, you can find the average range of what you need to hear speech, but depending on your loss you may hear it more clear or less clear. You will never hear it as someone with perfect hearing hears it(at least not today).

I can still remember what it is like to have almost perfect hearing in one ear. My brain remembers songs that I played all the time when I was younger. While hearing aids today are incredible, they are not even close.

No one will every be able to tell you which HA is better for speech as it depends on your loss and also how your brain hears. Like we have said before, you need to try them out!

:wave:Hi to all deaf and HOH folks on this forum. I wanted to post and was hoping someone can point me in the right direction...what kind of hearing aids do you think works well for ppl like me with profound sensorineural loss in both ears to be able to communicate with other ppl that allows me to understand speech better? I have hardly any clarity and understanding in speech although I speak very well in comparison to others of profound loss.
I am seeing an audiologist soon and looking for a hearing aid that will help alleviate some of my social frustrations talking to ppl.
I've considered CI but I don't think it'll suit me well, athletically. The devices you wear are very conspicuous and can easily become damaged.

Any advice, comments are welcome! Thanks!!

Again everyone hears differently so you will have to try, but there are a lot of people including myself on here with a profound loss who wear the Phonak Naida S UPs as they are an ultra power aid suitable for a profound loss.
