So I'm honestly not sure what is going to happen until I have my meeting on Weds with OVR, however I'm trying to prepare myself for hearing aids. What type of care for them is required? I'm planning on getting BTE either as an open fit or one with an ear mold...not sure yet. Depends on whether I end up going to a hearing aid dispenser audiologist or whether I end up ordering a set online.
What should I be prepared for with getting my first set? Does anyone have any experience with both open fit and ear mold behind the ear aids?
If I get a regular BTE, do I have to get a custom ear mold? Or are there "universal" ones? Do I keep changing them out?
Sorry for all the questions...I am just getting anxious...I'm ready to get these NOW! lol!

Open fit can only be worn with a mild loss, I believe. I think you really have to go get a mold made for your ear, or the hearing aids wont work right. I dont know anyone who ever had the open fit kind.

It doesn't matter. I think you can get Open Fit or just a BTE with earmold. It depend on your hearing loss percent. You said you're hoh. I had read about open fit. The slim tube always replacement every 3 months. If earmold will be long last. It's worth. My earmold is 3 years old now. I am getting a new one next month. It's still good!
