Has anyone ever been billed for a VP call previously?

When I lived at my previous residence, AT&T would bill them for us calling certain numbers, and that was odd, because generally VP calls are supposed to be free, but I recall a couple of times they got billed a pricey amount for one particular number, and they thought it was me, because the area code they billed for is where I'm from, but I told them that the number wasn't in my address book, and plus, that middle three numbers was familiar to another location, and my friend had to pay for that.

Now.... I'm curious.... have you ever been billed for a VP call before?

No. VP is connected to router, so therefore, it should not billed directly to you. All you can do is to pay a monthly bill for internet usage.

Yeah, that's what is odd about it..... AT&T billed them quite a bit for a couple of calls to my former area of living. Think it was $400-$500 something, which I wasn't responsible for, but generally speaking, I was surprised that they would get such a bill for a VP call. That is one of the reasons I am hesitant to have my own VP installed in the future.

No, never been billed for using VP calls. You probably got billed for something else.

Not likely. VRS Rules are pretty stringent on what I can use their services for, and that particular (618) number was billable for some reason, and I :dunno: why, because I did use my family's (618) numbers before with no problems, but that one number caused my former residence some headaches, and my friend, who had called it more than once, got hit with paying for it. That's why if I am calling family, I'd much rather use my own laptop VP, so I don't get hit with a similar charge, but today's technology is much more improved than it was back then, because back then, we were still using the VP-100, and then a couple of years later the VP-200, where the charges were issues with, and they STILL have the VP-200. Good Grief.

Sounds like porn or psychic sites that charge big bucks by the minute.

:shock:I've made thousands of vp calls, with balls of fire using AT&T internet service and never once was billed.

BS I would say, wherever you're living is trying to milk money out of you guys as much as possible

I first suspected that, too, until I saw the actual bill, because I had demanded proof of the high cost, and they showed me, and sure enough, there it was.

first off .. this story is fishy.
AT&T would bill them for us
Who is them ?! WHO has AT and T? you? them?

it doesnt matter if the numbers is familar to a location or not - the whole point is that - you as a VP customer should NEVER get a bill of any sort for making or recieving calls. If your freind has a bill that is being bill to "them" because of making a call to a VRS number, its NOT because of the VRS industry number. Its thier phone service rules and apparantly "them" dont understand thier carrier policy. This is the ONLY way this could happen .

Sorry, I call this thread to be fishy. a VP customer cannot be billed for a call made with VRS services. the hearing person making or receiving should not be double billed or anything related to the VRS industry. "them" should only get bills for mins used on cell line or long distance calls in general on a landline.

All videophone uses Internet based connection, regular phone use telephone based connection, a completely different system and they are not interchangeable. So therefore there is NO way telephone company can recognize or tap on Internet to place bill on these calls... Yes, even DSL line too.

You got billed somehow and best answer you can get is call whoever billed you and get clarification. I bet you by ass, you won't be able to trace that bill back to VP calls of ANY kind. Trying to find answer here, you will guaranteed to get wrong answer why ask here? Anyone here doing billing on your phone bills?
