No, you can get your hearing checked anywhere. Surely there must be an audiologist somewhere near you, or at least closer than Roanoke. It doesn't have to be through the VA. Any audi would do, as far as appeasing your concerns about your hearing loss.
I fail to understand why you would not want help from the VA if your hearing loss is military-related. Doing a C&P through them might classify you with a certain disability percentage that would get you 1) disability pay if you are entitled to it, 2) medical help at low or no cost 2) HA coverage, and more. Why are you throwing in the towel before you even get started?
