"Racing reunites deaf men - One wants to be a NASCAR driver, and the other has technology that can help."
JOE POSNANSKI
The Kansas City Star

http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/15048349.htm

This is on the front page of the sports section seen in the side bar with a picture of Greg directing readers to the full page article inside with more pictures about Greg Gunderson, his official sponsor, and Racin for a Livin. The author of the article is Joe Posnanski. He was voted as the nation's "Best Sports Columnist of the year" in 2005 and 2002 by the Associated Press Sports Editors.

By the way, the Sunday circulation for the Kansas City Star? It's 1.1 million. And the newspaper is owned by the McClatchy group along with 31 other newspapers, including the Miami Herald. And it's total circulation is 2nd only to the Gannett Company which owns 90 newspapers, including USAToday.

Whooohoooo! Congrats Greg Gunderson!! Big time bonanza!!

Also, I just now put up my blog piece about the story and how it all came together with me being the central key figure in making this happen.

I see that kokonut gave the correct one.

Anyway, a good article on Greg. :)

Interesting... Greg found the link "Driver wanted" I wish I had found that link as well! I hope Greg make it in Top 15. I am still voting for him.

Imagine when I was 8 yrs old I won Go Kart by selling most clander at school. I had been driving my go kart wild on my mom's property which is smaller than 1 acre. Full of dirts everywhere and I love to go very fast. Then about a year later my mom fed up and told me stop driving go kart because I damaged her yards all over around the house! I love road roading myself and found it very fun. Since I couldnt drive Go kart I havnt get a chance to drive and went into collecting comics and play with Gijoes. Now at 28 yrs old I learned more about Nascar legend driver Dale Earnhardt's death... I knew who he is because I heard it from my cousin and friends about him. Learned that Dale Sr's son race after his death made me wanted to check it out. I watched Nascar for the first time one week after Dale Sr's death. I got addicted to it every since and I bought video game with Nascar series and played them 16 hours a day without going out anywhere. I realized that I have talents and was disappointed that my mom stopped me riding go kart. If she hasnt I wondered where I will be right now?

It is still not too late to hit the stock raceway and practice with your car and maybe somebody will notice you. Learn how to drive from the NASCAR pro's and do your homework and research. I am sure you will find alots of things that will help you succeed. The internet is very amazing today.

Yeah I am looking around and prolly start off with dirt track racing which I know couple of deafies own a team there.

VOTE all the way until July 31!!!

I assumed those hearing rookies in top 50 has families, friends, and fans voting for them. I am guessing many of them are on 56k. We deafies are on boardband due to videophones. I guess this is why greg is in top 10 with us to repeating voting for him easier. 56kers will take forever and could led them to give up. My mom is on 56k and it's so slow!!!!!!!!!

I think there are not many deafies (comparing to them hearings) voting for Greg but serveral of us vote repeatly as 100 times a day. So reason I am saying this is to make us all realize this and we gotta to keep on voting until July 31th so make sure he stay in top 12.

Those hearing rookies could get their families, friends and fans to vote all day all night on July 25 - 31 on their 56k. So we gotta to continues voting for greg.

VOTE FOR GREG!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting Greg's name in the media by talking about "Racin for a Livin" tv reality show also adds voting points. This is what "Racin for a Livin" want. Media exposure to generate more excitement and awareness for their upcoming TV reality show.

Last week's article by Joe Posnanski for the Kansas City Star newspaper was a bonanza. Why? It was a full page article in the sports section written by a two-time winner (2002 and 2005) as the nation's best sports columnist writer by the Associated Press Sports Writers. It was printed in a newspaper that has a circulation of 360,000 and a readership base of nearly 890,000. Meaning that this isn't your typical local newspaper but a regional newspaper that gets circulated outside of the state of Kansas. The "Racin for a Livin" owner likes this media exposure. The bigger the media exposure and coverage to the audience, the better. This is why Greg's rank went from #20 to #8 the day after the newspaper was printed. And when readers read the story about Greg, many of them went online to vote for him because it was such a very good story and liked to see an underdog win. That caused Greg's rank to jump from #8 to #5. Also, we mustn't forget the recent voting party that Saturday that generated about 30,000 votes a few days before the newspaper came out adding to the vote tally with the newspaper coverage of Greg.

For every media exposure that mentions the driver and "Racin for a Livin" voting points are awarded. Lots of points! Depending on the size of the audience that receive the media information. The bigger the audience coverage, the more points awarded to the driver.

So far, Greg's story by Posnanski were printed in three different newspapers.

So, he will get points for those. And recently, a tv interview I mentioned early. He'll even get more points than a local newspaper coverage.

Remember, the bigger audience coverage using media news or entertainment (e.g. Good Morning America, Jay Leno, etc) the bigger the points are awarded.

If you go here - http://www.racinforalivin.net/viewforum.php?f=1
You will see drivers make announcements of their recent or upcoming media coverage. It's the media we want since it can bring many more points than would a fan base could muster in generating votes but they are still very important. Don't misunderstand me about fans and supporters voting for their favorite driver. Your votes are still very important! So, don't stop voting!

If this is true by awarding alot points to Greg... this would be unfair to other rookies in voting poll. And unfair to us too by voting repeatling. I have voted overall about 1,000 times or more.

There is nothing unfair about it. Just like what JV (owner of Racin for a Livin) said,

"I want to see just how bad you want it," VanDenHul said. "Nothing is for free."
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/15048349.htm

Completely fair. If you are the driver, it is up to you to seek out to the media about your goal to try and get on the show. The bigger the media exposure, the more people will learn about the show. Thus, award bigger voting points. Most of the drivers have been doing this or at least trying to.

Perhaps you misunderstood my posting? The responsibility lies with the rookies to get the media exposure. The bigger the media, the bigger the points awarded. Nothing unfair about that. And how would that be unfair to people voting for their favorite driver? Like I said, every votes count, including our own voting for Greg. Just because some rookies get awarded with large points for the media exposure doesn't mean we should not vote and "waste" our time voting. That kind of thinking could cause a costly mistake. That extra 100 voting points by voters could mean the difference between 15th place and 16th place.

We should never relax until after July 31 ends.

Don't stop voting.

Every vote counts. Including the media and the people voting.
